Biography

Akhil Misra is the Co-Founder and Research Lead at Viksit Bharat Research Lab. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus (2022–2026), with a thesis on "Modelling and analysis of hybrid wireless green communication protocols for 5G systems." He holds an M.Tech in Electronics and Communication from H.B.T.U Kanpur (2019–2021) and a B.Tech in Electronics and Communication from P.S.I.T Kanpur (2009–2013).

Professional Experience:

  • Assistant Professor, SR Institute of Management and Technology (SRIMT), Lucknow (Sep 2021 – Feb 2022)

  • Instructor – Electrical, J.K. Centre for Technician Training (JKCTT), Kanpur (Jun 2015 – Jul 2019)

  • Graduate Engineer Trainee (Electrical), Tecpro Systems Ltd. (Apr 2014 – May 2015)

He received the Best Poster Award at IEEE WRAP'23, Prayagraj, for his work on "Energy Harvesting Analysis of SLIPT over visible light Gamma-Gamma Distributed Channels."

Research Interests

  • Design and analytical modeling of Simultaneous Lightwave and Wireless Information and Power Transfer (SLIPT) systems using Time Switching (TS) and Power Splitting (PS) protocols

  • Mathematical characterization of energy conversion efficiency, waste optical/RF power factor, and non-linear rectifier/photodiode behavior under practical hardware constraints

  • Channel modeling and performance analysis of energy-harvesting communication systems across terrestrial, satellite-aided, and underwater optical wireless environments

  • Deployment of Optical/RF Intelligent Reflecting Surfaces (ORIS/RIS) with fuzzy-logic-based multi-objective optimization for adaptive power allocation and relay selection

  • Design of integrated optical sensing and communication frameworks enabling simultaneous information transmission, environmental sensing, and energy harvesting
